Overview
Time Filters allow you to filter dashboard data based on date or time fields, enabling you to analyze performance within specific time periods.
You can filter by fixed dates or relative ranges, depending on your reporting needs.
This is useful when you want to:
View data for a specific date range (e.g. last 7 days, this month, last quarter)
Track trends over time
Compare performance across different periods
Time Filters dynamically update dashboard visuals as the selected time range changes, helping you gain timely and relevant insights from your data.
What are Filters in the Dashboard?
Filters in the Dashboard allow you to control which data is included or excluded in your visuals.
There are three main types of filters you can apply:
Attribute Filters – for text-based fields
Number Filters – for numeric fields
Time Filters – for date and datetime fields
Each filter type is designed for a specific kind of data and offers different configuration options.
You can use filters to:
Include or exclude specific text values (e.g. City, Province, Status)
Apply numeric conditions (e.g. Amount greater than a value)
Filter data by time ranges (e.g. Date Inserted within a specific period)
Filters can be combined together using AND logic, meaning all applied conditions must be met for data to appear in the dashboard.
How to Add a Time Filter?
Step 1: Open Dashboard Filters
Go to Dashboard Library.
Open an existing Dashboard.
Click the Filter icon at the top of the dashboard to open the Dashboard Filters overlay.
Step 2: Add a New Filter
Click Add Filter.
Step 3: Select a Time attribute
Under the Row tab, scroll to the Time section.
Select a Time-based attribute, for example: Actioned At (Time), Date Inserted (UTC), etc.
Step 4: Select a Time operator
Under the Range tab, select an Operator:
Between
Not Between
Is NULL
Is not NULL
Step 5: Define the Time Range
Depending on the selected operator:
Between / Not Between: Choose the Value Input Type and enter values in both From and To fields.
Static Time – select a fixed date/time
Dynamic Time – select relative time values
Variables – use predefined variables (if available)
Is NULL / Is not NULL: No value is needed.
Step 6: Use Dynamic Time presets
When Dynamic Time is selected, click Presets.
Choose from predefined options such as:
Current Year
Current Year-to-Date
Current Quarter
Current Quarter-to-Date
Current Month
Current Month-to-Date
Current Week
Current Week-to-Date
Today
The selected preset will automatically populate the From and To fields.
Step 7: Save the filter
Click Continue to apply the Time filter to the Dashboard.
Tips & Best Practices
Combine Time filters with other filters to analyze trends over specific periods.
Review the selected time range when dashboards appear empty or incomplete, as data may fall outside the filtered period.
Remember that all filters use AND logic, so removing unnecessary filters can help avoid unintentionally excluding data.
