Overview
This guide walks you through how to manage permissions on a dashboard in Wingmate. You will learn how to open the Dashboard Permissions modal, view existing access, add new users or groups, adjust permission levels, and save your changes.
What are Dashboard Permissions?
Dashboard Permissions control who on your team can view, comment on, edit, or delete a specific dashboard in Wingmate. Each dashboard can have its own set of permissions assigned to individual users or groups, giving you granular control over who sees what.
Permissions follow a most permissive model — meaning if a user belongs to a group with broader access, their effective permissions will reflect the highest level granted across all their assignments.
There are four permission levels available:
| Permission | What it allows |
|---|---|
| Read | View the dashboard and its data. |
| Comment | View and leave comments on the dashboard. |
| Write | View, comment, and edit the dashboard content. |
| Delete | Full access including the ability to delete the dashboard. |
Step 1: Navigate to the Dashboard Library
From the Wingmate pipeline, open the left-hand navigation and select Dashboard Library.
Step 2: Find the Dashboard You Want to Manage
The Dashboard Library shows all available dashboards in a list view, including the dashboard name, data source, author, last modified date, and action icons. Locate the dashboard whose permissions you want to update.
Step 3: Open Dashboard Permissions
Hover over the row of the dashboard you want to manage. A Manage Permissions tooltip will appear over the shield icon in the Permissions column. Click the shield icon to open the Dashboard Permissions modal.
Step 4: Add New Users or Groups
To add someone new, click the Add button in the top-right corner of the modal. A dropdown will appear letting you choose to add Groups, Users, or Tenant.
Step 5: Adjust Permission Levels
In the Dashboard Permissions modal, you will see the newly added users in the table. By default, new users are given Read access only. Use the checkboxes in each row to grant or remove additional permissions — Comment, Write, or Delete as needed for each person.
Step 6: Save Your Changes
When you are satisfied with the permission settings, click the Save button at the bottom of the modal. A Save Details confirmation screen will appear, summarising the changes that will be saved, including which users were added.
